Vintage 50s 60s Retractable UFO Saucer Ceiling Light Fixture Lamp Mid Century

  

Item: For your consideration we are presenting for sale a nice vintage pull down / retractable UFO saucer ceiling light fixture / lamp. The main round shade is brass, and it has three small equally spaced holes in it where it attaches to the remainder of the fixture.

The shade portion immediately surrounding the light socket is conical in shape, and it is a pierced white metal. Attached at the bottom is a wooden pull down bar which is used to control the desired height of the fixture. There is a brass egg structure at the very top which has the excess cord inside it. We are uncertain of the maker. The fixture still has original sticker labels attached on the inside of the round ceiling canopy.

It'll make a nice addition to any mid century modern setting. 19 tall (measured from the ceiling canopy down to the wooden pull bar). The round brass shade measures approx. The pierced white metal conical shade measures approx. 9.25" tall x 5.75" in diameter (measured across the opening).

The brass egg cup that contains the excess cord measures approx. 5.25" tall x 3.5" wide. The wooden pull bar measures approx. Condition: Overall the fixture is in good shape, but could use a little clean-up and/or polishing. The large round brass shade shows some light superficial scratches along the top surface, and there is some white paint loss on the underside as well (see photos).

The brass egg cup also shows signs of superficial scratching (again, please see photos). The white pierced metal conical shade shows some color loss, and could benefit by being touched up. The wooden pull bar has some excess white paint on it, probably from when the previous owners repainted the ceiling or something. All of this should clean up nicely. We just chose to leave the fixture as it was acquired.

With all of that being said, there are no dents in any of the metal components. The retractable cord seems to be stuck inside the egg; we did not want to try pulling on it too hard. The light is in working order; however, it does need to be hardwired into the ceiling professionally by an electrician.
